Each year we support key national campaigns in our local area:
National Smile Month runs mid May to mid June each year. This positive campaign, run by the Oral Health Foundation, hinges on three key messages:
- Brush your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
- Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
The smiley stick has been part of the campaign for a few years, enabling fun to be had whilst sharing the messages. For more information, please visit: www.nationalsmilemonth.org
Every November is Mouth Cancer Action Month. The campaign raises awareness of how to lower our risk of developing the disease, the importance of checking our own mouth regularly and of going to the dentist. Stoptober which takes place each October encourages people to go smoke free for 28 days and beyond. The impact of smoking on oral health is significant and the Oral Health Improvement team promotes local services and uses national resources to support the campaign.
